Jochen Lempert
Exhibition,While I worked at the Cincinnati Art Museum, I presented the first major US museum exhibition devoted to German artist Jochen Lempert. Titled “Field Guide: Photographs by Jochen Lempert,” it traveled to the Contemporary Art Gallery, Vancouver in 2016. You can learn more about the exhibition in this video.
One rewarding aspect of this project was enabling Lempert to make progress on his life’s work: to document every remaining specimen of the Alca impennis, a bird that went extinct in the 1840s. There are approximately eighty in museums and private collections around the world. I facilitated his visits to and photographs of about half a dozen of these birds in museums throughout North America.
